Mission:
To heal and transform this community through two types of work: urgent relief works and preventive works. The urgent relief works such as feeding, clothing, healing, housing and rescuing are works for those in crisis. The preventive works of educating, counseling, training and spiritual discipleship will ensure that the cycles of poverty and despair will not be repeated.

Volunteer:
Those with steadfast prayer and heartfelt action.  People willing to walk long distances for our 26 neighborhood (16 miles) prayer walk. And for those who have a hunger to connect and serve the urban poor.

Mission:
Provide assistance, mentoring and resources for Sacramento‘s homeless community.

Volunteer:
To help with our extended hours (3 hour shifts instead of two hour shifts). We are currently seeking motivated professionals to teach a series of classes. Several positions are available for our Life Skills Classes:  Parenting, Money Management, Life Skills, Job Club and GED Prep. The perfect candidates would reflect a high level of professionalism, have classroom or teaching experience and exposure to a variety of different learners. Of particular interest for the GED Prep are teachers with credentials for English (Reading/Comprehension) and Mathematics (Basic Math, Multiplication, Division, and Fractions/Beginning Algebra). Requirements: Early Childhood Permit or Units (12-24), a valid California Teaching Credential (GED Prep), College Units in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or Early Childhood Education, College Units in Supervision, Management or Business. Volunteer:
Help us serve over 300,000 meals per year!  Stock food, prepare three-day food supplies, help with client intake, computer data entry, support administrative activities and education. Work at the food closet. Talk to a local grocer about allowing you to collect food, and give people entering the store a shopping list for donations that they can give you upon exit. Help with planning and support of Empty Bowls. Write articles and assist with public relations. Help with grounds and maintenance. Be a canned food drive coordinator, Box returner or a substitute for vacationing regular volunteers.
